I agree, this is something I should implement in my own reading list. I already have tags to track what medium each entry is, however I think narrowing it down further and being able to break it up even more is a good idea.

I have a two step note taking process based on the Zettelkasten method. I take literature notes grouped under items in my reading list, making reference to the specific page numbers and quotes where I got the ideas from. Then I will transcribe these rough notes into my permanent notes database, making reference to the page number and source as I make them. It is basically just keeping notes while reading in order to maintain the bibliography.

I do not have much experience with this though as I am not an academic writer, so I am not contentious about keeping references.
